The Doom Room

New Woild Order

Welcome Comrades,

Back to the grind. Trying to make sense of all the shit around us. Who do you listen to? The President? The Peaceniks? Saddam? Hans Blix? As far as I can tell everyone's lying. No one's telling the unblemished truth. It's hard to make up my mind about what's worse - our lack of info or the avalanche of erroneous data. I guess it's the same.

Of course, you can make the facts your bitch, everyone with a brain knows that. The key is to be cynical, subjective and agenda-driven, then, anything you read can support whatever argument you want to make. I do it; everyone else does it. The problem is that the Bush Administration does it so much that I think they're starting to believe their own hype. Bush is naive enough to be led around by his cronies. I bet he really thinks he's on a mission from God. That scares me. He definitely has weapons of mass destruction. As a matter of fact, it's just been confirmed that the pentagon is planning to use chemical weapons in Iraq banned by international treaty.

People like to compare Saddam Hussein to Hitler. Current events do not recall Europe in the thirties. No one had the nuts or firepower to contain the Nazis back then. Now, the U.S. has the might to do as we please. We sent Hussein packing last time. We freely bomb the shit out of him. I agree that Hussein's a tyrant. I don't believe that has anything to do with our agenda. Sorry, I'm a skeptic.

We can take out Saddam quickly and cleanly. I don't think this war will drag out. I think we'll be in Iraq for the next decade. The pentagon is already taking bids for rebuilding Baghdad. I think the middle east will probably stay about the same. Some Arabs will hate us; some will want our money. We will succeed in proving our enemies correct about us - that we're power hungry, not freedom fighters. We will succeed in controlling one of the biggest supplies of oil in the world, allowing us to kiss off the Saudis and keep it out of the hands of potential rivals like China and Russia. We will also continue down the path to a world where freedom means the ability to erode the social advances made in the last century in labor, equal and civil rights, and the pursuit of happiness means profits without taxes and consumption without obligation. The distance between rich and poor will continue to widen instead of narrow, and the post-industrial age will be remembered as the dying era of the democratic nation-state, and the birth of the soulless market-state. Of course, maybe I'm too optimistic...

Hasta la victoria siempre,
