Welcome To The New World, May I Take Your Order?
Welcome Comrades,OK, I know it says 'Weekly Musings,' but you really don't expect me to sit back while current events march blithely forward, do you? I have to strike while the iron is hot. Listening to Democratic leaders backpeddling and blamestorming makes me want to scream. I won't subject you to the audio portion, just the rant.
Terry McAuliffe, Democratic National Committee Chairman, should be slapped. Then, someone needs to explain to him that to be the 'Loyal Opposition' you have to actually oppose something. Incumbent Democrats trod upon each other to be first in line behind the President, and what did it get them? The boot. Why should any registered Democrat get off their butts to vote for a Republican in sheep's clothing? No reason at all, and they didn't.
All the losers are saying that the President's popularity was too strong to fight. Many incumbent Republicans ran without Democratic challengers. Honestly, George W. seems like a likeable enough guy, but let's face it, it wasn't his popularity that was unstoppable, it was his wallet. Republicans raised almost twice as much campaign cash as Democrats this year. Is it because so many common citizens agree with their agenda? Of course not. It's corporate money that fills the coffers. Republicans are traditionally pro Big Business, and Democrats pro Labor and Regulations. Except recently, when everyone's clogging the Big Money trough, and you can't tell a Liberal from a Libertarian. The richest 1% in the country are putting up the money, but you're the one who's going to pay.
We might as well just crown the President, Emperor Bush the First. It's only proper, after all, he is the son of George Ceasar, oops, I mean Senior. Their dynasty's pretty unstoppable. Hard to believe we all thought it was the Kennedys we had to watch out for (guess Joe Kennedys' deal with Satan terminated with his life expectancy, but George Senior's still around - coincidence?) Anyone surprised by Bush's acknowledging Cheney as his future running mate? Know why? It's not loyalty or money or anything like that. It's because Cheney's not going to run in 2008, leaving the door wide open for hand-picked successor, Jeb Tiberius Bush. Then, in 2016, Jeb's son, George P. Bush, should be sufficiently groomed to take over. They may have to squash the police report about him breaking into his ex-girlfriends house and then doing doughnuts on her lawn with his car. Ah, young love... Wait a minute - if Jeb is Tiberius, then that makes George P., Caligula. Uh-oh...
Hasta la victoria siempre,
